Public schools
So maybe I'm just over reacting. My daughter started first grade this year and when we first registered the school was so persistent on attendance if the children are not going to be in school then you need to call the attendance hot line. If they are tardy more than so many times then you have to go in for a meeting and so and so forth. However do you know how many days off school they have off? Too many! Like just this month they have four days off. This week they have Thursday and Friday off for UEA, OK that is every year. A given, then they have Monday off, and also the twenty-ninth, both for like a teachers day. Really what is teacher’s day for? Is that not what all summer is for and they have only been in school for one month. Do the teachers really need a break from these kids that bad, and that soon? And what are we parents supposed to do with the kids on all these random days off? Leave them home unattended or what daycare will let you randomly bring them to? Now off the subject of attendance. what do our children do in school for eight hour, that when they come home we still have a couple hours of homework? yes we need to help them at home also i understand that but then when are we supposed to spend “quality” time with them after you get home from work, get their homework done, get dinner ready, clean up dinner, bath. Oh look now it is time for bed. Don’t you think that eight hours of school is plenty we should be spending time with our kids at night not sitting at a table arguing about doing homework.. Brittany B
