Generl education. Really needed?

I don't like that idea that we need to take general education classes. I think that most of them are just a waste of time and money. There are plenty of people that think the same thing. For example, biology as a per-requisite to micro biology. I think that it is a waste of time because most or everything that you learn in that class is something that you learned while you were in high school. May people will argue that you still need to take these classes so that you can apply them to your daily tasks in life. But I think that we have learned enough things in high school that we could use in life. The classes that you take in high school are sufficient enough that you shouldn't have to "retake" them later as a requirement for your degree. I think that it should be made optional for someone to take and if you think that you need in order to pass the next class then by all means you can take that if you want to. In my opinion by making general education classes optional then it would be a better experience for people that they will be able to get into their field a lot faster. I think that then they will take the classes that they will learn the most from and get the most out of. There are some fields that you know they will not use any of the classes that they had to take. like business pretty sure that you won't use biology where as you might use english and math and need to take those classes to get your degree. For dental hygiene I don't think that english should be a requirement to take unless you were planning on writing papers even then taking english 101 should be enough. I won't use it when I have my degree all I will be doing is cleaning peoples teeth. Some people may argue that you need it so that you can write a resume and such for a job. But with the internet that is not a hard thing to do.

There are some classes that are required that I think are a good thing to make students take for their degrees but those classes could be more angled to their field, For example. anatomy and physiology. they are good thing to learn so that we have a better understanding of the body because that is what we are going into is health care. Also math to a degree will help with the everyday world so that maybe we can be better at budgeting or even helping our children even more. General requirements would be good for someone also that didn't know what they wanted to go into and it would give them something to work towards if they want to get a degree
