General Education

General education classes are great tools and learning enhancements for new-coming students, either fresh out of highschool, or who have not chosen a degree.  On this note, this does not include everyone.  Not everyone has figure out what their "passion" is and what they would like to do for the rest of their life.  This idea can be kind of overwhelming.

General education gives students a chance to meet other people and develop their interpersonal skills with people other than those that are already in their chosen field of interest.  It is nice for those that don't have a major/degree chosen to get a better understanding of the world as whole and what options are available to them.  These classes can also give a person a better basis to start their schooling experience.

On the other hand, classes such as College Success and Fitness for Life, and Calligraphy are classes that aren't necessarily related to those degrees in the medical field unless it relates to Physical therapy.  These classes are good for students and teaches them a variety of thing, but for it to be mandatory and be at the cost of a "starving" students and even be in the way of recieving their degree as a general credit is pretty ridiculous.

Overall, General education is a good concept. I believe that everyone should have common sense and continue education in various ways. However, I also think that if someone is going to be paying for the knowledge that they recieve and know what their specific study is, then general classes should not be a prerequesite.
