Generals

Usually I'm a very opinionated person....I feel strongly one way or the other. This one I'm kind of torn though; I feel that some general education classes are very important, while some are not. Anatomy was a very important class for what I will be doing. They say that the mouth is the window to the body and you can tell someone's overall health by what you see in their mouth. Therefore it is very important for me to know how the body works, since I will be working on people's teeth. On the other hand, I think it is a waste of time to take two English classes. I feel it is important that I know how to speak English properly, but neither of the English classes are really even about that. One is about writing essays, and the other is about arguments. I think it would be more beneficial to take something like a Spanish class. It would be a great asset to have in any job to be bilingual. Then there's math.....UGH! I'm going to be scraping teeth, so I don't need to know algebra to do it. I haven't taken an algebra class and in the ten years since high school, I haven't had to use anything like it. Math would be very important in some careers, but not mine. If I had to pick one side or the other, I would say I am more against general education classes. We should spend more time focusing on what we will actually be doing in our careers.
